Honey Roasted Carrots + Oven Safety

These carrots are a great recipe for the fall and would make a great side dish for Thanksgiving. The glaze is simple to put together and it caramelizes the carrots in the oven. Before you get started, it’s important to understand how to use an oven safely.

Oven safety tips:

  1. Preheat the oven before you get started with cooking. This gives your oven time to come to the right temperature and bake your food properly.

  2. Wear oven mitts on both hands every time you put something in the oven or take something out. Make sure to always use both hands and hold the trays evenly.

  3. If there are other people in your kitchen, tell them you’re going to open the oven, so they know to be careful. If you have small children or pets around make sure they can’t walk up to and touch the oven.

  4. Open the oven door all the way. Some oven doors might spring back up if you open them partially.

  5. Set a timer for when your food well be done so you don’t forget it and it doesn’t burn.

  6. Before taking anything out of the oven, make sure you have a heat-proof place to put the hot baking tray.

  7. If you are serving the food right away, remember to steady the tray with an oven mitt on so the hot tray doesn’t move around and so you don’t burn yourself.
